After School Camp

ABOUT

Camp Fire programming allows participants to explore their sparks, learn to make healthy choices, develop social skills, build new talents and have fun. Our goal is to provide youth with opportunities to cultivate their inner passions, skills and attributes (or “Sparks”) to stimulate Thriving - a forward, purposeful motion toward achieving one’s full potential.

PAYMENT INFORMATION

School-Year Registration Fee:

$25/1 child

$35/Family

All campers must complete a registration form and submit Immunization Records prior to attending After School Camp. A Registration form can be completed online or at the Camp Fire office.

After School Camp Daily Fee:

$10/Day

Effective October 1, 2018

Pre-Payment is required for the After School Program by logging into your “Family Portal” and selecting days of attendance. Alternatively, you can call the Camp Fire office and make a payment over the phone or come into the office to pay in person. Checks, credit cards, and cash are accepted at the office.

LOCATIONS

After School camp is located at Berney, Edison, Green Park, Prospect Point and Sharpstein elementary schools. 

Half Day Camps and Non-School Day Camps are located at Sharpstein Elementary and transportation must be arranged by parent.

CAMPS

NON-SCHOOL DAY CAMPS

Located at Sharpstein Elementary, available for when Walla Walla Public Schools are closed due to staff professional days, parent conferences, breaks, etc. Transportation must be arranged by the parent/guardian. 

 

Times: Begins at 7:30 AM and ends at 5:30 PM. 

Morning Snack, Lunch and Afternoon Snack are provided.

HALF DAY CAMPS

Located at Sharpstein Elementary for  days that WWPS has early dismissal. Transportation must be arranged by the parent/guardian.

Afternoon Snack are provided.

SNACKS

HOMEWORK POLICY

Snacks are provided. Parents are to notify the office about any food allergies and/or needs. Camp Fire will attempt to accommodate specific dietary needs as much as possible.

STAFF TRAINING REQUIREMENTS

All Camp Fire Walla Walla After School Camp staff meet licensing standards set by the Washington State Department of Early Learning (DEL). Each After School Camp staff member attends training that emphasizes developmentally appropriate practices for elementary school age children. Additionally, each Site Director must complete 20 hours of Washington State STARS training and 10 hours of continuing training annually.

A typical day at Camp Fire Walla Walla’s After School Camp will include the following, though the activities may occur in a different order than what is listed here:

School Dismissal: Sign-in, group meeting/

2:55-3:30 p.m. Circle time

3:30-3:45 p.m. Group Games: Outside or Gym

3:45-4:15 p.m. Hand washing and snack

4:15-5:00 p.m. Homework/Reading/Tutor Time

5:00-5:30 p.m. Gym or outside play, Table Games/Coloring

5:30 p.m. Program Ends/Parent Pick Up 

SNACKS

Camp Fire Walla Walla’s After School Camp provides time each day for homework. Staff members monitor this time and are available to help as needed; however, children are responsible for their own assignments. Children who do not have homework are expected to read or participate in quiet activities during this time.

WEATHER POLICY

If school is cancelled, or kids are sent home early due to poor weather conditions, program will NOT run. If there is a two hour delay, program will run as normal. For questions, please contact the Camp Fire office at 525-3180. 

HOURS OF OPERATION

After School Camp operates Monday-Friday during the school year on regular school days. Each site begins at school dismissal time, and the program runs until 5:30 p.m.
